Made from US-sourced organic cotton and naturally black alpaca from small farms, this scarf was hand dyed, hand woven and finished in Upstate NY.
The ikat effect throughout is made by hand dyeing the warp with organic indigo, kakishibu, and iron. It is then transferred to the loom and hand woven. Kakishibu is a non-toxic and naturally fermented persimmon dye from Japan that creates a range of warm and cool grey tones when used with iron. Content:
68% Alpaca
32% Organic Cotton
Dimensions:
Length: 80.5"
Width: 7.25"
Care and considerations:
Hand wash cold with gentle ph-neutral detergent. Please take care to not agitate too much as the wool will felt. Lay flat to dry, do not machine dry. Take care not to store in the sunshine as this might shift the color.
Due to the organic process of hand weaving, there may be inconsistencies in the pattern and width that make each piece unique and one of a kind. Pieces made with natural dyes have a tendency to fade over time.
